Drink Lots of Water, as Directed by Your Doctor

There are many benefits from drinking enough water, one of which is to fight dehydration. Research suggests that men should drink approximately 3 liters or 13 glasses of water daily. Women, on the other hand, are advised to drink an average of 2.2 liters or 9 glasses of water a day.

Doctors also suggest increasing water intake to 1.5 to 2.5 glasses of water whenever you exercise, since water loss is greater during physical activities.

Drinking more water on hot weather is just as important. During the hot season, our body loses out too much water by sweating and we need to replace it to avoid dehydration.

It is also important to drink water when sick to revive body strength. When we are sick our body temperature is high and the result is we sweat a lot. Rehydrating helps make sure we have enough moisture in our body to fight illnesses and get us back to our feet.

While it’s okay to drink a cup or two, without supplementing with water, it may contribute to a feeling of dehydration.

Avoid or Limit the Consumption of Alcohol

Like caffeine, alcohol is a known diuretic. It drains your body of water at a much faster rate than normal, which gives the feeling of hangovers. It is advisable to drink enough water whenever you consume an excessive amount of alcohol. Limit and avoid the consumption of alcohol if necessary.
