1. Multum in parvo

It’s a Latin word for “much in a little”. This is sometimes used to describe pugs. If you have one, then you would probably understand this. Pugs have a “larger than life” personality in comparison to their size.
2. Good companions for children and the elderly

They can easily adapt to their companions, whether it be a child or an elderly person. Pugs love to play and run around with children. But despite their active personality, they also love to be cuddled, which makes them great companions for older people.
3. They are brachycephalic

These lovable pups are short-nosed and flat-faced which is attributed to its breathing problem. There are also other problems associated with being brachycephalic like eye, skin, spinal, and birthing problems.
4. Voracious eater

These fur friends love to eat, especially if they are still puppies. They also love treats but don’t indulge them too much. Overeating can lead to health problems in the long run.
5. Bred to be lap dogs

In China, they are bred as lap dogs for emperors. Their love for pugs is because of their forehead wrinkles.
When pugs are born, their forehead wrinkles are inspected to see if it resembles a W shape. The W shape is the most highly favored wrinkled configuration because it bears semblance to a Chinese character for “prince”.
6. Buddhist monks love them too

It is believed that in ancient Tibet, Buddhist monks kept pugs as pets or guard dogs. Their cute little faces resemble the Chinese Fu Lions or Guardian Lions which were believed to have protective powers.
7. Royal connections

Queen Victoria and the House of Orange are known to have several pugs. It became the official dog of the House of Orange after a Pug named Pompey saved the life of the Prince of Orange, William the Silent.
These pooches live a luxurious life like their masters and sometimes have their own guards.
8. Mops and grumble

The German name of a pug is Mops, while the term used for a group of pugs is a grumble.
9. Lickers and swatters

Pugs are notorious for their love of licking. They also love being tickled and touched. These pups are tactile in nature.
10. Beauty spots

Moles on the pug’s cheeks are called beauty spots. It is part of their standard markings.
