Are you planning to take your kids to their first camping? Here is the list of things to help you make your kid’s camping experience memorable.
1. Make use of the daylight.
Build the tent before night time. Unpack everything and let your kids help with the light chores.
2. Light the place.
Kids are scared of the dark, and the forest can give spooky sounds at night. Why not decorate the campsite with string lights or lanterns. Create a fairyland ambiance and make your kids enjoy the night.
3. A mosquito repellent is a must-have.
Mosquitos can bring deadly illnesses like dengue, malaria, encephalitis, and many more. Remember, prevention is always better than cure, so do not forget to protect your children using a mosquito repellent.
4. Plan a game time.
Kids nowadays can get bored easily because most of them want to use gadgets and connect with the internet than play outside. Well, it’s time to take a break and engage more in nature. Don’t wait for your kids to say, “Mom, I want to go home!”
Plan exciting games to make the adventure more fun. Bring washable toys for the toddlers, like a ball or a stuffed toy, and nature-oriented gears like a magnifying glass or binoculars suited for older kids.
5. Recess indiscriminately.
Your children need water after a long hike. Always bring a bottle of water and light snacks to keep your kids from whining after getting tired.
6. Bring a first aid kit.
Even if you are always careful, accidents may happen. Just in case someone gets hurt, you are ready to treat the wound before it gets infected.
7. Stick with the routine.
Let your kids nap when they feel exhausted. Follow their bedtime schedule and do not stay up late to avoid draining their energy.
8. Teach them the science in nature.
Be a science teacher for a day! Explain and teach them how to light a bonfire. Let them assist you in roasting hotdogs on a campfire. You will not only make the camping experience memorable, but your children will also acquire new learnings.
9. A bedtime story and a campfire song.
Why not make the bedtime more fun by singing beside the bonfire? Sing songs that your children know, so they can sing with you. You can also teach them a new fun song. Tell a story about adventures that they will love to hear before going to bed. Gaze upon the stars and see if there will be a chance to wish in a wishing star.
10. Follow rules.
Give your children strict rules like do not wander off alone with an explanation that they could get lost in the forest. You can also forbid using gadgets and savor the nature trip. Just keep the cellphones charged inside your bag for emergency.
These are just some tips on how you and your kids can enjoy camping. You can pick some from this list or create your own set of activities. Plan your trip to make it a more enjoyable experience for the whole family. After your camping adventure, your kids will have precious memories that they will cherish for a very long time. Enjoy the moment and happy camping!
